Zogby poll bad news for Dear Leader

Ameriblog has a great post covering the results of the latest Zogby poll. 61% of Americans disapprove of Bush's handling of the Katrina disaster.
Also note the numbers on the matchup poll which asks people whether they'd vote for Bush or a variety of politicians. (They'd prefer Carter to Bush) Of interest is that, even as Bush's numbers tank, people would still prefer him over Kerry by a thin margin.
As Ameriblog states, "Lesson? Don't stand for anything and you won't win."

In a humanitarian crisis, who wouldn't want Jimmy Carter?

Actually I've always quietly harbored this theory that Jimmy Carter would actually have been the perfect Democratic candidate in 2000.

Yeah, but would you want to have a beer with Jimmy? After all, that's what they tell us was the main reason people voted Bush. (sheesh)

All the political consultants tell candidates that America wants a beligerant half-wit, and so all the politicians rush to act the part. So far, they're doing just great.

And Anon... I'm not sure, but were you trying to bash Carter? Come back later when you've sobered up and try again.

Surely you aren't suggesting that a guy that has done nothing but quietly gone about doing good works and working for peace and democracy around the world is "the worst ex-pres in history". Are you?

If so, you really should lay off the booze, it makes you mean and stupid.

I'm sure you prefer Reagan who almost immediately went overseas to collect multi-million dollar speaking fees from foreign interests, then laid around supported in regal style by the corporate cronies he enriched?

Or perhaps you like Jerry Ford, who raked in mulitiple millions by being appointed to dozens of corporate boards where he earned millions for essentially doing no work, while drawing incredibly generous pensions from the house, the senate, the vice-presidency AND the presidency at the same time?
