Rank Hypocrisy? Bush? Imagine that.

Though an instance of Bush being hypocritical is so common as to almost not merit mention, it's interesting to note that at the same time Karl Rove and the White House launched an immediate and concerted effort to blame the two Democrats involved, Mayor of New Orleans Ray Nagin, and Louisiana Governor Blanco, that Bush is now telling us that now is not the time to be pointing fingers.

Efforts are also being made to suggest that things went better in Mississippi and Alabama, states with Republican governors. Aside from the disgusting fact that there is obviously an effort by the White House to play politics with the tragic and horrible death and suffering, it also ignores the fact that the affected areas in the two Republican lead states are, and have been, dry, and they do not contain a flooded city named New Orleans. Duh!

As has been mentioned, some media and the right are also comparing the leadership of Giuliani post 9-11 with Mayor Nagin. That's patently unfair as the two are not remotely comparable. Other than the number of deaths, the two are not remotely alike, with New York being dry, and with most of it's infrastucture and emergency agencies still intact and ready to function from the start.

What does it say that the Bushies are mounting such a fevered effort to deflect blame away from the federal government and Bush? Doesn't the fact that they're even mounting such a huge effort speak to their guilt?
