It's not all negative

Now that aid efforts have been able to get a foothold and some adults seem to have taken charge, we can expect to witness some truly awesome accomplishments.

Just the logistics and record-keeping necessary for an effort of this unprecidented scale is hard to fathom. They're getting more and more needed equipment in area, and the overwhelmed and exhausted New Orleans fire-fighters are being replaced by units from around the country who are staying on top of the many fires, 15 of them yesterday alone. They've also begun to utilize the water scoop bags for fire-fighting with helicopter which they can dip into lakes or rivers to fill with water.

Shelters for evacuees are up and humming, with many volunteers continuing to create an organized and as comfortable as possible environment. Food, clothing, and medical care is being established, and an disaster mortuary effort is being set up to deal with the dead.

The Corp of Engineers are on top of the repair of the levee breeches and plans are in place with help from Holland, who after all, has a little experience with living on land below sea level, to get the pumping operations in full swing.

And gradually, life along the coast is returning to a functioning state.

Now that the momentum has changed, we can look forward to thousands of truly remarkable stories of amazing accomplishments in the face of adversity and the sheer enormity of the effort.
