Denny Jacobs throws retirement party
This just in....
In honor of his long and illustrious service to the area, there will be a retirement party for Denny Jacobs tonight (Thursday 3rd) at the East Moline American Legion, 829 16th Avenue. Things get under way at 7:00 p.m.
A video presentation featuring testimonials from various compatriots of Jacobs will be shown and should be a highlight.
Denny is justly reknowned for his ability to provide a good time for all friends, so this should be quite the shin-dig. Be there. (And you might want to clear out your schedule for Friday morning.)

The Dope hopes to make the party as well. Perhaps you can regale people with the story of the time you met Lyndon Johnson? You've certainly been at some historic events.
i'm sure you'll be there Sen. Dope, their honoring your dad!
Ah damn. Ya got me. In between my millions of appointments, staff meetings, events, committee hearings, and travel time, I spend hours putting up this site. What's my secret? I never sleep!!
Who lets these people in here? Oh yeah, that would be me.
yes, it's a lot to do for one crazy cat with a lime on his head.
The Dope was mortified at the thought they'd made a spelling error, though The Dope welcomes such catches so he can correct them. But I'm relieved to see that our friend ByGump is addressing the error of commenter McBride above.
The Dope finds the Senator part confusing. Surely no one thinks a state senator has nothing better to do while congress is in session than put up a blog!? I'd suggest barking up another tree.
Mr. Dope - please wear a red carnation in your lapel so we will know you!
It was a fun party, but I don't think you were there, were you Dope?
No one cares if the Dope was there - he's probably not that much fun anyway!
Dope was definitely there, passed out in the corner yelling all kinds of gibberish. Something about "Please, don't mess with my blog anymore!"
Where is the dopester this morning?
Did anyone hear the newly elected EM mayor crying that the defeated incumbant was having a recount?
The Dope is amazed to report that he ended up at a tiny bar at a crossroads in the middle of nowhere somewhere in the vicinity of Plainview, IA (as far as I can tell) drinking shots with two bearded, heavily tattooed, Viet Nam vet over-the-road truckers with not the friendliest dispositions.
The Dope apparently made it home sometime this morning, but still finds it hard to believe.
hey dope who gave you the scoop on the video-wasn't known to many outside the loop!!
The Dope IS the loop.
Get in it. The Dope welcomes e-mail.
(and I had to make a series of calls from pay phones, then meet this guy in a dark parking garage (man I wish they'd pick somewhere other than parking garages all the time) and they whispered to me about the video.)
Viva La Denny!
Amen to that!
