Lyons: The Dems need a fighter

Gene Lyons (a personal friend of The Dope) is one of the top writers/columnists in the country. His work with Joe Conason in writing "The Hunting of the President", the definitive account of the decades long effort by the "vast right-wing conspiracy" to bring down Clinton by any means necessary. (and yes, it WAS a conspiracy) is a must-read for anyone concerned with the ongoing and massive right-wing smear and propaganda machine. After you've read "Hunting", you'll have much greater insight into the alliance of money, sham organizations, and a complicit media that the right has employed and continues to use to maintain their current position of power. The book was made into a motion picture by Harry and Linda Bloodworth-Thomason which was released last year.

Lyons, who is based in Arkansas, has authored several other excellent books as well, including "Widow's Web", one of the best true crime books I've ever read, and "Fools for Scandal", revealing the corruption among the right and the mainstream media in inventing and inflating the Whitewater scandal while ignoring evidence that no crime was committed.

Lyons' most recent column provides his thoughts on the choice of Howard Dean to head the DNC what it means for the Dems. The Dope heartily agrees with his views.

If you'd like to have Lyons' columns delivered to your e-mail inbox, send a request to normdiz@redshift.net and ask to be added to the list. (remember, when something is underlined and in color, it's an automatic link. Just click on the link and it will open up a mail window for you.)
