Get your primary picks in

Yes, the appearance of the Inside Dope Swami can only mean one thing... it's time to make your predictions...

It's a week out from primary day, and this time focus your picks on the following primary matchups and predict the final count in percentages.

Rumler - Jacobs 36th Dist. Senate

Huff - Grchan - R.I. County Sheriff

And I'll throw in the judicial race as well. If you've already voted for the above you can throw in your vote for the below as well if you wish. (again, with people still insisting on commenting as "anonymous", it's impossible to match your two picks.. but for some reason, people continue to do so.)

O'Neal - Peterson - Wright - 3rd Dist. Appellate Court Judge

Submit your picks in the following format:

Jacobs: xx%
Rumler: xx%

Grchan: xx%
Huff: xx%

O'Neal: xx%
Peterson: xx%
Wright: xx%

If you want to add any explanations or caveats, feel free.

And this time, click "other" and TYPE IN A NAME damn it, so we can tell who was closest once the real results are in.

Jacobs has a lot of baggage from his father. To carry this will be a heavey load. In the end a positive campaign pays off.

Grchan wins. Huff's mail was so scarry that It will scare of the undecided.

You can tell who you are for. The name is Huff. You spell like a Jacobs. Next Rumler in an upset. All the people that Rumler saw will carry him over the top.

In the race for Sherriff, I think incumbency will drive the train. I don't see a compelling enough reason for those voters who only loosely follow this race to vote for Huff.

In the State Senate race (bold prediction here), the Jacobs name and money will be too much for Mr. Rumler to overcome, even in light of the resentment some may harbor over the way Mike Jacobs got the job.

I may be generous with the margin of victory, and if it is a close race, I hope that Mike takes it as a wake up call that the people need to see some humility and genuine hard work.

If he pursues this path, I think over time, he can prove to be an able senator outside of his dad's shadow.

Anon: 8:41. sorry about the spelling goof. I got it right half the time though.

And I'm simply stunned that STILL people won't bother clicking on other and typing in some made up name, even for something like this.

It's amazing. Now if Anonymous wins, big freaking deal. It's meaningless.

Way to go people. I'm really proud.

Would someone explain to me why you insist on posting as anonymous, or give their theory as to why this happens? It's got me completely stumped. Is it simply because I asked them to?

For no other reason than Mr Rumler is basically an unknown to me.

Huff 45%
Grchan 55%

Given all of the facts I vote for Seriff Grchan. The fact that Mr Huff does not have the support of his own union leads me to ask why would any other unions back him. I would hazzard to guess the AFSCME reasons would be ownly self serving reasons.
You can also not overlook all that Sheriff Grchan has done.

EMDEMO,

I wonder why you say that Sheriff Grchan can not come back from the 38% of the last election. If I remember correctly he beat Mr Huff by more than 10 points that time. Maybe I am wrong but I do not think so.

I also wonder about the information listed on Mr Huffs signs.

Honorable service- Correct me if I am wrong. I read on the Huff website that he was in fact guilty of what they had charged him with. The only thing in question by the court was the penalty. That does not mean that he did not do what he was charged with.

Union rep. - He does not even have the endorsement of his own FOP lodge. These are the ones that he has been such a great rep for. If this is so why are they not backing him full steam ahead.

Friendly to seniors- I do not know about this. I have not seen anything in the papers to either support or not support this statement. I did notice a flier bout a senior program on his site. There is nothing stating what he has already done for the seniors only what he will look to do. Not being in law enforcement may be why I have not heard anything about his senior service. Or maybe there is not any?

Fiscally responsible- As far as I know he has not had to deal with budgets of any kind as of yet. I may be wrong but there is no way to check on this. I do note though that on his campaign disclosure he has had to borrow money from a correctional officer for his campaign.

I will stick with Mr Grchan

Anon @ 20:12,

Did you possibly consider the fact that there will be political retribution against the FOP Lodge members? It has been done in the past and if the incumbant is elected on March 21st I am sure it will take place again. The AFSCME Union took the challenge and is running a good campaign, a clean campaign. I stand with Huff for Sheriff and do not fear the political retribution.

I called Mr. Huff about his union's endorsement. He said on Feb. 15th the FOP had a meeting about endorsements. Mr. Grchan asked to be endorsed and Mr. Huff said the FOP should continue their long practice of staying nuetral in Sheriff's races. They voted to stay nuetral. He added that AFSCME has endorsed him and people should contact AFSCME with questions. I asked him about being fiscally responcible. He stated Mr. Grchan has had three SUV's in his time as sheriff. And numerous other new vehicles. This is a waste of taxpayers money. When I asked why Grchan purchased SUV"s as his supplied department vehicle. Huff told me I should ask Grchan. The cost of the vehicle and higher fuel costs are just one waste of tax dollars he said. If you write to Huff on his web site, he will call you.

Throw the "bums out" concept.
Same thinking for sheriff.
Huff 60%
Wright and Peterson battle it out for around 40% each. Cops and women turn out, Wright wins. Heavy blue collar labor, Peterson wins.

Sen. Jacobs is over and above far more qualified to represent our district, get your heads out of your you know what. In the end, Rumler can move to another district at the last minute and try to run in 2008, good luck Paul!!! As for me I'll be at the Jacobs VICTORY party on the 21st.

At 3/17/2006 2:07 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Of course you'll be at Jacobs party, isn't it customary for the candidate to be at his own party?

About the victory thing...

I't seems that you don't know how to read. The person being at Senator Jacobs VICTORY PARTY would be Miles J. not Mike J. Better put on your specks.
