A shot of Christmas soul in the middle of January.

I was poking around the net and was pointed towards a clip of David Letterman essentially telling Bill O'Reilly he's a pompous gasbag, which of course, goes without saying.

While at the Letterman site, I browsed some of the other clips available and was just transfixed by Darlene Love knocking the hell out her classic "Christmas Baby (Please Come Home)"

She was one of Phil Spector's stars on his Phillie label and was called upon to sing this cut after Phil felt his wife Ronnie Spector just didn't have the emotional power to do it justice. What resulted was a classic in every sense of the word.

The song was first released fourty-three years ago, but Love still just tears it up. Such a beautiful song, such great hooks, and such a remarkable voice. Almost chokes me up just listening to it.

You can watch and listen to it in real player here. Make the screen 2X or fullscreen, turn it up and hold on.
