Moline council springs into inaction

The Moline City Council recently had it's first "working" meeting and they really buckled down and came up with a list of priorities for the city.

They dug in their heels, rolled up their sleeves, and with steely determination, they... well, they took the list of goals from last year and changed the order around a little.

2005 Moline city goals

The Moline City Council has set the following goals for 2005. It wants to have:

1. A strong local economy, confidence to invest

2. A financially strong city with cost-effective services and responsible taxes

3. Pride in services, delivery of quality services

4. Expanded housing opportunities, a range of choices

5. A vibrant downtown, a regional destination point

6. Quality neighborhoods, a civic partnership between the city and residents

The goals are the same as in 2004, just in a different order.
Presumably they'll get around to the matter of how to achieve these things some other time.

This goal thing sounds easy. All you have to do is jigger around with their list. My goals for this year are:

1. Financial prosperity. Confidence to invest.

2. A large income, enough to have to pay taxes.

3. Pride in my work and myself, at least as much as the horrible, horrible shame.

4. Expanded housing opportunities with a lot of choices.

5. A city council that can develop a downtown that's worth walking across the street to visit.

6. To actually speak to my neighbors at least once a year.

What's yours?

Hmmm Sounds like that might make a good bumper sticker!
