Vershoore OK after suffering heart arrhythmia

State Rep. Pat Vershoore was fine and reportedly attended Denny Jacobs' retirement blowout Thursday night after being released from a Springfield hospital earlier in the day. During a routine blood pressure check at the statehouse, it was discovered that he had abnormally low blood pressure and a rapid heartbeat.

Verschoore, 61, was admitted to St. John's Hospital Wednesday and underwent a variety of tests. He said on Thursday that he felt well.

"I feel fine now. A lot of things can cause this, like having a low magnesium level," he said. "One person told me it can just happen with age."

He added the situation was in no way life-threatening.

Pat, thanks for doing such a great job as state rep. Keep it up! Talk about a team player who isn't trying to grab the limelight. Lots of politicians could learn from that!

This, unfortunately, brings up the question of who might succeed Rep. Patrick Verschoore when he chooses to retire? Is there a barnyard full of potential Democrats and Republicans to run for the job?
Mark Schweibert? Pat O'Brien?
Scott Verschoore? Clarence Darrow Jr.? Porter McNeil?

On the GOP side, the young man who ran against Verschoore last time?
Stan Leach? Don Welvaert? Don Sharp?

All I know is that the "DOPE" is spending way too much time on the House seat where there will be no movement -- Boland -- and far too little time on the hottest House seat in Illinois -- the 72nd. Pat Verschoore has told people he won't stay in the House too much longer. So, who are our candidates? Randy Flowers? Clarence Darrow Jr.? Pat O'Brien?
Ted Brunsvold? LuAnn Kerr? Diana Robinson? Lisa Bierman? Arthur Winstein? John Callas? John Gianulis Jr.? John Brown? JP Jacobs, who's on the influential QREDA Board?

Inquiring minds want to know? Get on this "DOPE"!

Hell, you've covered it already! Nothing much to add to that.

I may post something on this at some point. As it stands, I don't know enough about all the players. The situation just isn't quite ripe enough.

And please, if you have topic suggestions, pass them along via e-mail. Thanks.
