Today's GOP: Gopher from the Love Boat, Reagan, Schwartzeneger, Sony Bono and his ditzy wife, J.C. Watts and Steve Largent, and the rest. It's almost certain that if O.J. Simpson hadn't murdered a couple people, he'd now be a Republican candidate for something. We've had two dismal TV talking heads, a pretty boy and a ... well, a woman, as the Republican nominees to challenge Lane Evans.

Now...

Former Steelers star Lynn Swann, who declared his candidacy for Pennsylvania governor, says he is confident he will win the state GOP committee's endorsement.

However, if the committee endorses one of his three competitors next month, Swann said Wednesday he may contest the party's candidate in the May 16 primary.

Let's see. It goes to all celeb politicians, and then we can have reality shows based on the politicians. It's a logical progression in the right wing blurring of politics and pop culture.
