Kathy not too high on Sen. Jacobs either

From the QC Times opinion pages:
On Nov. 4, The Dispatch ran an article about riverboat gambling and statements made by Illinois Democratic Sen. Mike Jacobs. Jacobs had the audacity to compare himself and his defense of riverboat gambling to the actions taken by Rosa Parks. As a Caucasian female and lifelong Democrat, I am extremely offended by his comparison.

For those who may not be familiar with Sen. Jacobs or Rosa Parks, I would like to provide a comparison of the two.

Rosa Parks was a brave, African-American woman who helped spark the civil rights movement when she refused to give up her bus seat to a white man. Parks stood up, or rather refused to stand up, as a statement about the right to be treated with dignity.

Sen. Jacobs did not refuse to give up a seat. His current seat as an Illinois Senator was handed to him by his father, former Sen. Denny Jacobs and the Democratic Party. As far as this Democrat is concerned, the rights of the voting population were trampled on by the passing of the “senatorial throne.” Mike Jacobs has not earned any place in history. The rights he is standing up for primarily benefit politicians and businesses.

Rosa Parks refused to stand as a matter of civil rights and human dignity, whereas Sen. Jacobs sits in a seat he didn’t earn while championing the cause of a very few.

Sen. Jacobs, you are no Rosa Parks.

That puts her views in perspective. Thanks.

countydemo,
Glad to hear those facts. It's indeed pretty reckless to suggest that Jacobs somehow "hates" women.

CountyDemo...

I humbly suggest that Rumler (though I do like Rumbler) has absolutely NO obligation to answer your invasive questions any more than say, Sen. Jacobs.

While Jacobs has to disclose where his campaign donations come from and where they go, he's not under any obligation to reveal who pays his utility bills, for Pete's sake, nor should he.

Is there some nefarious plot if Rumler's family are supporting him? Who cares? I'd think it would be more curious if they weren't. I have no idea of their party affiliation, but I do know Rumlers. That's the only thing that matters, after all, and until someone can state as fact that the entire Rumler family are staunch Republicans, that issues is moot. (It would be VERY unusual for a guy from a die-hard Republican family to dive right into Dem politics. Family party affiliation is often the biggest factor in why people identify with one party or the other, especially in their younger years.)

It's got to be a tough go to grub up enough money to even mount a bare-bones campaign, and I personally hand it to Mr. Rumler for having the ability to "get 'er done." (UGH! I hate that catch phrase)

Why anyone feels he's obligated to divulge every jot and tittle of his personal finances is beyond me. Do you really think anyone beyond a handful of people give a damn who's paying his car payments?

Now granted, if the speaker, any Republicans, or Jacobs' are involved in bankrolling him, that would be relevant and would obviously be information which should be known.

But before we venture into such conspiratorial waters, I'd caution people to stick to the facts as they're known and not engage in what is obviously wild speculation at this point.

Your premise is simply ridiculous.

What's any politician's source of income? What's Jacobs'? What's Verschoore's? What's Evans'?

It's public knowledge what employment he's had for the past several years, what's your problem?

(that's a rhetorical question, no need to actually answer as I'm not sure I want to know.)

Here's a news flash for countydemo....
Hope you're sitting down....

Rumler has supporters who have made donations to his campaign.

There.. . that's the shocking truth. Now you can stop asking your inane questions.

Your demands are unreasonable and rather silly, and frankly, I think no one cares except you. And your attempt to put suspicions in people's minds is transparent and ineffective.

Please stop yammering about it and ask Rumler yourself if you're soooooo concerned. Since you think it's absolutely crucial to know who paid for his last oil change, ask him yourself!

Report back when you have verifiable information.

And you must think it's cute to misspell people's names, as you've done many times in the past when you posted as HeadUsher, but it's typically juvenile and not cute, and makes you look petty. Just a little advise.

HeadUsher/Jacobs/CountyDemo/Voterguide,

You must realize your comment makes no sense.

First, I wasn't a "confidential" source for the Dispatch piece on Rumler's residency flap. It simply mentioned that comments here had brought it up.

So that's a stupid lie to begin with.

Secondly, my complaining about their not giving proper attribution has absolutely NOTHING to do with my objections to your continual bullshit here. I warned you about it because you didn't just "raise the issue". You continued to ignore all warnings and abused the blog by posting the same crap over and over and over.

That's not done.

And you are on notice that further abuse will result in your comments simply disappearing. I'm not going to allow you to abuse the blog again.

You can bitch and whine and cry and compare me to Hitler, ... doesn't matter.
