Winborn elected Davenport Mayor

From QC Online:
Voters picked former Scott County Board chairman and county recorder Ed Winborn over alderman Steve Ahrens to be Davenport's next mayor in Tuesday's election.

In unofficial final results from the Scott County Auditor's office, Mr. Winborn received nearly 55 percent of the vote, or 8,449 votes, to Mr. Ahrens' 6,759 votes. Mr. Ahrens served as an at-large member of the city council.

Maybesomeday, I'm grateful for your excellent insights into the Davenport races, and I'm disappointed as well that there are not more comments. But then again, Daily Davenport Politics is really the go-to blog for...oddly enough, daily Davenport politics.

I'm thinking we don't get too many visitors from the west side of the river.

Glad you're up on things though. It is interesting that a few of the races were razor thin, as well as how many incumbants were defeated, and Brook's narrowest of victories.

John Beydler at "The Passing Parade" also notes that in general, the alderman who supported the casino move on the Davenport riverfront were ousted, while those who opposed it were elected. Another interesting observation.
