Fritchey: Eisendrath to challenge Blago in Dem Primary race

Rep. John Fritchey and his blog have become quite the source for important news and discussion. The latest? Fritchey reports that former Chicago alderman Ed Eisendrath will run against Rod Blagojevich in the Democratic primary, and it's not just happy talk.
After a number of calls and conversations today, barring anything unforeseen, I'm saying that Eisendrath is IN THE RACE. While there is no official announcement, I think that it is safe to say that this train has left the station.

As I said before, this changes a LOT of calculations for a lot of people, not just the Governor. So roll up your sleeves, sit back and get ready to witness some fascinating politics.

Rich Miller has the low down at Capitol Fax.

The Trib had a story on this as well.

I think it came out of left field for everyone. I was aware that there were more than one person with such a personal anomosity towards Blagojevich that they were openly talking about running against him.

For someone to actually want to subject himself to a statewide campaign, even with slim and no chance of actually winning, all for the sole purpose of giving Blago aggrevation, now that's hard feelings. Not to mention that there are so many who feel likewise that it would actually be possible to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in "hate money" from people who simply want to see someone challenge Blago.

A rather poisonous atmosphere to say the least.

In a much more intense way, it's almost parallel to our 36th district contest in some respects.

As the wires heat up around the state on Eisendrath, I'm sure more data and backgound will emerge.
The blogosphere and more knowledgable readers will likely fill in the blanks soon.

HA! The "anyone but Blago" campaign seems to be off and running.

Note the addition to the post of a link to the Trib story on Eisendrath candidacy.

Sometimes Billy it's easier to jump off the train before it wrecks than brace yourself for the impact and hope you don't break your neck!!!

Sign me up for Eisendrath.
