Let Them Eat Cake

In which the matriarch of the Bush clan reveals their attitude toward the poor.

Try and believe it.
NEW YORK Accompanying her husband, former President George H.W.Bush, on a tour of hurricane relief centers in Houston, Barbara Bush said today, referring to the poor who had lost everything back home and evacuated, "This is working very well for them."

"Almost everyone I’ve talked to says we're going to move to Houston."

Then she added: "What I’m hearing which is sort of scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."
YOu see! These victims who have lost EVERYTHING are LUCKY DUCKIES!

For those unfamiliar with Blue-Blood speak, allow me to translate: "This is just not right. Heavens! We're treating these darkies like they were decent white people! This is very bad. Everyone knows you can't treat those people decently. They'll only start to expect it! If you treat them better than third-class citizens, they might actualy want to stay! That, darling, is simply not acceptible!"

One only hopes Babs didn't actually have to touch one of the "underprivileged". Ewwww!

Contrast this to how say, Tipper Gore or Teresa Heinz-Kerry would have reacted.

We also recall Barbara's view on the hundreds of deaths his son's war had provided during her appearance on ABC's "Good Morning America" March 18, 2003:
"But why should we hear about body bags, and deaths, and how many, what day it's gonna happen, and how many this or what do you suppose? Or, I mean, it's, it's not relevant. So, why should I waste my beautiful mind on something like that?
