Bodies rotting in the water, others waiting for rescue, cops get back to stupidity
Here's a photo of SWAT team members going into the New Orleans convention center where hundreds of victims were abandoned for days in sub-human conditions before finally being aided and evacuated almost a week later.
These guys were making sure nobody remains in the building, which I'd think would be assured as it's filled with human waste and worse, and the people were desperate to get the hell out of there.
But look at this:
If you didn't know any better, you'd swear it was one of the final scenes in "The Blues Brothers"!!! What the HELL??
Think this might be a bit of overkill? As Gen. Honore said, "This ain't Iraq, damn it!"
And here's Leonard Thomas, 22.
The caption to the photo states, "Leonard Thomas, 23, cries after a SWAT team burst into the flooded home he and his family were living in on Monday, Sept. 5, 2005 in New Orleans, La. Neighbors had reported that they were squatting in the house in the wake of Hurricane Katrina but the authorities left after his family proved they owned the house."
So much to do, people and pets stranded, relief and medical treatment ongoing, and the cops are busy busting into these poor shattered people's homes because someone "said" that they were squatting??!!
What is going on here? This is their priority?

At times it's just so painful to watch human nature in action. How people follow under-response with overreaction. The picture of those SWAT team guys reminds me of the final scene of The Blues Brothers as Jake and Elwood attempt to make the tax payment to save the orphanage, and have an army of gung-ho SWAT teamers rappelling down from the roof, and running helter skelter all grunting "Hut, hut, hut!!!"
It would be funny if the circumstances weren't so goddamned tragic.
that's why I mentioned the Blues Brothers in the post. It's the first thing that sprang to mind. Incredible. Boys with their deadly toys playing army.
