Paul Hackett, a rare Dem with courage

Paul Hackett is an ex-Marine. He came within a hair of winning an Ohio congressional seat in a district which has been heavily Republican for decades.

Listen to him on the Ed Shultz show on Air America respond to Rush Limbaugh saying Hackett had fought in Iraq only to "pad his resume." Preview: Hackett refers to Limbaugh as a "that fat-assed drug addict."

It is SO refreshing to hear a Dem who's not a tu-tu wearing coward only pandering to the right in order to gain power. These types are more concerned about getting into office and staying there than they are about doing anything to fight against and reverse the dangerous course the right has set for our country.

One thing I learned from Pate Philip: Son, there are no "ex-marines."

Right you are. My mistake. But it's a little awkward to write "Paul Hackett is a Marine who is currently not on active duty and is now a civilian".

As a matter of fact, during the interview Hackett mentions his fellow Marines being outraged that Limbaugh was so ignorant as to refer to Hackett as a "soldier" rather than a Marine.

You know Rich I'm tired of the militeristic attitude that has develpoed since the long time Bush family friends attacked the Twin Towers on 911.
Always a Marine?! Since when did the military become a damned religion.
Religion has wained importance.
Sexual morals have been found to be unimportant to most Americans divorce rate.
It's O.k to let someone else raise your kids.
kids grow up way to soon.
But for God's sake don't be unpatriotic!
Since when is killing such a virtue?
And usually the types that strut around with there I'm a Marine whatever on their cars are the ones that have never seen any combat!!
Real veterans seldom talk about war.
As Robert E Lee once said'Its good that war is so terrible or we would grow to love too much'
I paraphrase.

The "no such thing as an ex-Marine" line has been around forever. That's no recent, post 9/11 thing.

And I have seen and know a lot of them. Beleive me theyre EX-Marines.
there is no way I would trust these guys with a rifle.
So they are not super humans.
They need to get over themselves!

Lane Evans plays the ex-marine card in every election.
Are we to think that Paul Hackett isnt doing the same thing.
Evans is never as sickening as when I have seen him at public apperaences chanting his Semper Fi!
Although I'm not a reular Ditto-head, Rush is right on this one!

Rush is full of shit. Hackett served in the Marines in an incredibly dangerous combat zone, fighting in Faluja among other places. To even suggest that someone would sign up for the Marines, endure the incredibly tough training, then put their ass on the line in the nastiest places in Iraq just to "pad their resumes" is the utterance of a blithering idiot hack.

How you can begin to think such an idiotic statement is defensible is beyond me.

And Maybesomeday, I wouldn't fret that the media won't cover the Sheehan situation, they're all over it.

...and now her entire family is telling her to stop. It's now all about her.

And no one told Paul Hackett to run for congress or join the Marines. It was a race and he lost. Thats it!

Dave, stuff it. Your typical right wing tactic of trying to personally attack whoever has the guts to stick their head up and speak the truth is really worn out.

Cindy Sheehan neither needs nor desires the publicity this is giving her. Why on earth would anyone seek to have cretins like yourself and thousands of other knuckle draggers slander and besmirch your motives when you've sacrificed a son to this country?

Why aren't you wearing your super-patriot suit now? This woman's son is supposed to be an absolute hero in your eyes, having given the ultimate sacrifice in the cause of ... well, whatever the hell Bush says we're over there for this week.

But let a grieving mother who realizes that the entire war was a lie and a sham question why she no longer has a son and try to demand an asnwer from Bush in person, and you jack-wads are jumping all over her.

Your premise that she's doing it just for some sort of perverted glory is just ridiculous on it's face.

But that never stops you from trying, does it?

And to the anonymous above. What's your malfunction? Can't you think straight? Can you read words without seeing what you want to see in them?

Hackett wasn't, hasn't, and won't complain because he lost the election. As a matter of fact he readily admits that he got beat in an extremely heavily Republican district. So don't try to distort this as if he's simply whining that he lost. That's a flat out lie.

The point here is that the guy served and served courageously and well, and your butt boil of a loudmouth, Rush, the junkie, has the nerve to question his motives for risking his life for his country.

I'm sorry you have to invent shit in order to make an argument, and if you listen closely, the right almost always has to distort or exagerate everything in order to try to make it sound bad, but I'm beggin' ya, PLEASE try to stick to the facts.

So, her family isn't telling her to stop?

If the cameras weren't there, she wouldn't be there. Your hero Micheal Moore and his ilk are using her and you don't seem to give a shit as long as it promotes you universally rejected theory of "blood for oil".

She's attached herself to ultra leftist groups that have no credibility except that they hate Bush, much like your pathetic self.

So she wants an audience with the President so she can tell him he killed her son and this was a war for oil so Bush's friends can get rich. Then what? Although you also seem to believe this, most clear thinking Americans do not.

Now, whine some more because politcians don't want to be associated with your nutjob, moonbat website.

To show you that you are moonbat nutjobs of course. It seems to be going very well.
