Evans plans to seek another term

John Beydler at "The Passing Parade" blog has a real bombshell for those who have been pondering whether Lane Evans will indeed attempt another campaign.

Evans is in
Given the money and image problems created for Rep. Lane Evans when he agreed to pay the Federal Election Commission $185,000 to settle a GOP complaint about money-shuffling, the first question is whether the congressman, whose health already is an issue, will run again.

Evans is running for re-election in 2006, spokesman Steve Vetzner said in an email exhange.

Q: Steve, Has Lane decided whether to run for another term...?
A: Yes, he will be running for re-election.

Me thinks a savage battle looms.

My next poll was going to ask whether Evans should run again. Maybe now I'll have to ask whether it's a smart idea.

Evans runs again and wins! Darrow takes on Jacobs to get even with the Denny and Mike stopping him from getting the state rep seat vacated by Brusvold and installed Verschoore.
Darrow brings the southern end of the district Rock Island and probably does well in Moline.

Interesting analysis diehard!

The thing that killed Darrow against Verschoore was organized Labor and the support of Speaker Madigan. MJacobs can't count on labor going all out for him like they did for PatV, and Emil Jones reach is likely not as long as is Madigan’s either.

Historically the Jacob's have voted with Labor only just enough to get by, and Danny went so far as to take the business lobby into his household - he roomed with an Ameritech flunkie in Springpatch.

This one could be more fun to watch than the potential Boland vs. Jacob's grudge match, since the Darrows bring MUCH more money and other resources to the table than Boland might have.

Another interesting consideration is that Boland has always done better than the Jacobs' outside Rock Island County, and we all know his endorsement against MJacobs could be available for the asking. What better revenge for Boland than to help remove the Jacob's from their Senate seat without even risking his own!

Darrow’s strength is in Rock Island which has never been a Jacob’s stronghold. Look for MBoland to get HEAVILY involved on his end of the district if this happens, which could bring about a very interesting race.

Previous post should have read Denny not Danny.

Now here's an interesting question for you dope - one rumor has it that Denny Jacobs will be the QC local who runs for Treasurer, not Boland.

What do you think about that one?

Sorry, Typing too fast. Denny tried it once before and found out that he may be a fairly big name around here he is atill a downstater.
No, he will consentrate on getting his kid elected then all is right with the world. The Jacobs get what they want whoopee!
Darrow didnt exactly endear himself to labor when he ran against Verschoore.
But unions as you know aint what they used to be. Half of these guys dont even know who there state senator is!

rope a dope,

Have you checked Darrow's finances. According to his campaign report available here

http://www.elections.state.il.us/CampaignDisclosure/CommitteeDetail.aspx?id=17663

He has $64,000 in debts to his brother and his father from the last campaign. Does he have to pay these loans off or can he just start up a new committee, anyone know?

he doesn't have to pay the loans off to wage another campaign. however potential donors will see it (after all, you did) and may not want to give to a candidate who is carrying that kind of debt.

As I have said in the past. The Verschoore victory is proof that no matter who you are, if you are Mike Madigans bitch you will get re-elected!
And despite the credit Tom Beson is claiming for getting Verschoore elected I'm sure the$180,000 the speaker poured in had nothing to do with it.
That and Darrow's campaign was vote for me because I was a Marine...puhleeese!!
