Yum yum

Here's a screen capture of the Dispatch/Argus Metro News page which lists headlines for recent stories.

Two adjacent headlines read:
12 pounds of maggot-infested flesh removed from horse
and
Apricot chicken and wild rice leaves lips smacking at Taste of Home

Somehow, apricot chicken and wild rice
doesn't sound so appetizing anymore.

The horse headline is a link to a piece by a WQAD reporter. I suppose it's a sign that they're moving toward tabloid style "grabber" headlines, but for the area media, it's pretty graphic, to say the least.

Oh Willlllburrrrr, I kept telling you it was more than
just a pimmmmmmmple!

(Those who can't access the Dispatch site can email me and I'll send you the story. The headline's not pretty, but the story has a happy ending.)

Captain, you're kidding? They actually showed video of this horrid thing on TV??!! Wow! I'd be appalled too. That's just completely unecessary.

I mean, I was going to make a comment that at least the article in the paper didn't include pictures... but now you say they showed footage of this horrible wound? What are they thinking???!!

And anon... you're down with Ludicris the famous rapper? Cool!

Actually, people do put down animals that are injured severely with no chance of recovery routinely.

Shiavo's brain stem had turned to jelly. I've lost count of the number of times all the evidence in the case was put before judges of all political stripes, at least a dozen and likely more.
NOT ONE ruled in the parents favor.

This is the role of the judiciary, and they made the decision based on law and fact. The Shiavos had more access to the courts than 99.999% of citizens ever do. It's done, and it was lawful and at least in my opinion, was the correct decision.
And no matter where you come down on the unfortunate story, the fact remains that this was NOT an area for the congress to get involved with. The fact that the right wing extremists in congress attempted to inject themselves and negate the judicial branch should scare everyone out of their wits.

I completely agree with you on the govt not being involved. However, if Her parents were willing to take care of her why not let them. And why would her husband not allow her family the proper burial or a lock of her hair. All I can say is that that husband of hers is really cruel. No parent should have to be put in that situation. After all I didn't see anything in writing stating that that was the fate she wanted to live. Boo to Michael Schiavo. Yeah to the horse though. The flesh eating magots was not a pleasent site thats for sure. As ludicris would say PEACE OUT HOMIE
