Cast your vote for Governor

Illinois blogger Carl Nyberg has created a poll on his site which allows visitors to vote for their preferences for Governor. He has a poll for both Democrats and Republicans.

Take a second and vote.

You can see the ongoing results at the site, and the final results might prove interesting.

The poll runs through Sunday the 13th.

Dissenter, you can't be faulted for assuming the only other vote on the site was mine, but actually, it wasn't. I haven't voted yet! (violating the vote early and often dictum)

But I'm pretty surprised at the low turnout so far. I'm sure it will pick up as other sites link to it.

I'll cast my vote later, though it will depend on the choices available as to who will get my vote.
The Dope has very mixed feelings about Governor Elvis.

Just went to give my vote, (though it's really not a vote, you get to assign all the candidates a number between 1 and 13, or pick "no opinion") and apparently things have changed. Dan Hines now leads the pack.

This voting method is pretty interesting. I can only imagine the possibilities for use on The Inside Dope

It is a bit complex, but it does lend itself to choices like this where you're trying to get a feel for the level of support among various choices.

It's also handy because it doesn't ask a respondent to make an either/or decision.

And to Casmir... if you voted for The Dope, I'm sure it wouldn't be the first time you'd voted for someone whom you knew nothing about. Most people do so often in local elections. (and for that matter, even national elections.)

But what they didn't put on that billboard was that I've been going back on that damn boat and lost everything I'd won and then some! I should go back to bingo, but I'm hooked!

I'm not going to have a dime to pay for any long-term care expenses. I'll have to rely on government programs. Inheritance? HA! Forget about it kids.

All you righties whining about medicare and other welfare costs, go scream at the gambling industry and those who don't pay a living wage, like Wal-Mart, who actually provides instructions to their workers in how to get government benefits because they don't pay enough or provide any benefits themselves. You tax-payers are subsidizing Wal-mart so they can destroy your small businesses.

Huh? Was that just some sort of spontaneous outburst? Do you have Tourette's syndrome or something?

where was the humor in the suggestion for mike boland as our next governor? why would you think the individual has tourettes? you are an unmerciful dope.

That was no suggestion that Boland be the next governor... I appeared to me that someone was just shouting his name for no apparent reason. I had no idea what the hell they meant. The post above is about voting for governor on another site.

But now I see that's apparently what the commenter meant. I guess he or she just read the headline, came here and yelled, "Mike Boland!"

Now I get it. Sorry

Mike Boland for State Treasurer!

He would be great and God knows the Democrats need a downstater on the 2006 ticket. Listen, it's all Chicago -- Blago, Quinn, White, Madigan, Hynes. Now, downstate is 40% of the general election vote but zero percent of the statewide party right now. Hmmm, I'm not a math whiz but I think the downstate 96 counties are getting screwed. That is no way to maintain a STATEWIDE Democratic party.

Mike Boland PLEASE run for Gov. or Treasurer-- run for anything state wide, just get the heck out of western illinois. The king of useless legislation in our state could certainly make a good run as a downstater and a populist (just ask Pat Quinn, your old buddy for some tips)So PLEASE Mike run, run, run... as far away from here as possible. I would even vote for you.
