The Daily Show Oscar coverage "live" from Davenport

Last night's The Daily Show with John Stewart featured a "live" remote interview with their "Senior Hollywood corresponent" Jason Jones.

According to the on-screen graphic, he was supposedly standing in front of a home in Davenport, IA as he discussed the recent David Geffen/Barack Obama/Hillary Clinton dust up. Jones described Davenport as a hard scrabble blue collar town, which I suppose is how someone with no clue might describe it. It's nice to be noticed.

You know, the Daily Show still has it's moments. Usually the first bit and occasionally the correspondents are good, particularly the english guy they have with dark hair and glasses... he's routinely funny, as is the guy who's really soft spoken. (sorry for not having the names.)

But increasingly, at least to me, it seems like Stewart is only a warm up act for Colbert.

True, though the SNL version wasn't a half hour, and the Daily Show takes it a bit further.

And personally, I think SNL's fake news peaked with the Point/Counterpoint parody and Ackroyd's, "Jane, you ignorant slut!" and went downhill from there... (well, Chevy Chase had his moments, and there was the news for the deaf with Garrett Morris, which was a classic, but other than that... ehhh. )
