O.J. and Denny Hastert, both out to find the real criminals

Too funny...

The big difference here is that OJ was on his own.

I've seen lots of spin and damage control with this whole scandal, but I haven't seen what if anything has been done for the pages themselves. Guess politics trumps victimized youth.

Still trying to figure out how alcoholism has anything to do with causing pedophilia, except that hiding after political scandal is the first step to political recovery. Maybe Foley and Mel Gibson can enter group therapy together.

The only thing I've heard of regarding addressing the pages themselves, has been from our neighboring congressman and Hastert pal, republican Ray LaHood.

He came out literally the day after the Foley scandal broke suggesting that, try to believe it, the entire page system be eliminated altogether!

How stupid is that?

And what's the thinking behind an idea like that??

That congressmen are always going to be pedophiles and sexual predators, and we can't do anything about that, so we might as well get rid of the pages??!!

That idea struck me as particularly ridiculous.

Apparently LaHood thinks the problem isn't with a weirdo in congress being sexually suggestive to young pages, but rather with the fact that pages are there to begin with!

You are correct, dope. It is really stupid (if not insulting) when these congressmen say "well we are going to re-evaluate the whole page program" as if it were some kind of systemic problem in the first place. Talk about blaming the victim.

I remember we heard a similiar line of crap about "interns" right after the Lewinsky scandal broke. I mean it was a different set of circumstances, but the same line of reasoning, i.e. blame the entire program instead of the predator.

One more thing: this is the SAME Ray LaHood who 2 years ago was so utterly outraged that Jack Ryan took his then-wife to sex clubs... Lahood was so shocked and disgusted that he played a key role in driving his fellow Republican Jack Ryan out of the Senate race.

Where is the outrage now, Ray??

Shimkus's Democratic opponent this year must be a total doorknob otherwise Shimkus would be in trouble, too.

"total doorknob"? HA!!

I'm afraid I've got to steal that one. Cracks me up!

Did anyone happen to read a snippet in today's paper that with a very recent stroke of a pen and majority vote in the legislature, Denny Hastert has made himself a millionaire by some change in property tax or estate land laws or something?

He's going to be ok even if he should loose his Congressional seat because of this.....the rich get richer....

Maybe, first of all, nice to see you around...

And I reported on this deal way back on June 15.

The post is here.

I don't understand why people like Hastert (who have it MADE financially) don't just leave while they are on top of their game and enjoy their retirement years. I mean what is he holding on for?

I know people will say it is the lust for power that keeps old politicians going, but you can't take it with you! I mean all that stress and the hectic schedule, screw it - Why not enjoy your golden years? And I say "golden years" because every time I see that fat hog, I visualize his arteries being 99% clogged with lard.

If Denny retired, he wouldn't even have to live in Yorkville. He is rich enough that he could probably afford a condo in Hawaii.

Ah Dopester - I must have missed the read that day! Excellent catch. Now why can't the other media outlets report as well and in-depth as you?? Because you are better that is why!!

Maybe... you made my day. Thanks.

Better? I'm not sure it's fair to compare. But different, yeah.
