CIA Director suddenly resigns, no explanation given

Bush's CIA chief Porter Goss has resigned with no explanation offered. Bush and Goss appeared in a taped resignation announcement which has caused a lot of speculation as to why this sudden and unexpected resignation occured.

Early speculation points to some possible involvement in the Duke Cunningham corruption scandal or some sort of power struggle with John Negroponte, the Director of National Intelligence (and former Iran/Contra figure.) Negroponte is in charge of naming a replacement.

A truly strange and suspicious move with no explanation offered, not even the standard "I want to spend more time with my family". This will touch off a round of palace intrigue and speculation for an administration that seems increasingly on the verge of crisis.
