Open Mouth, Insert Bus

The brilliant title above is taken from the Quad Cities Times editorial on Sen. Jacobs "Rosa Parks moment".
While flags around the Quad-Cities have been flying at half-mast this week to honor the passing of Rosa Parks, Illinois Sen. Mike Jacobs’ ego has been flapping at full mast.

The Peoria Journal-Star noticed too. (scroll halfway down column)

Someone has to stop this guy from making our community a big joke........

Come on people give the guy a break, everyone says something really stupid every once in awhile. While what he inferred was rather dumb, that is no reason to lynch him over it.

Ok - let's not invoke the Clarence Thomas defense guys.....

Pitiful. It is too dumb to believe it but true.

Jacobs will take a hit over this, and then move on. As I've said before, consider it on-the-job training.
It could be a good thing.

I really don't see Jacobs as being in too much trouble.
I think this Ruhmler guy is a Denny pick. The Headgusher even admitted it 2 weeks ago on this very blog!
Oh and there is the what 200,000 dollars!

What do you mean Rumler is a Denny pick? Who is the Headgusher, and what did he admit?

Just take a look on the sidebar for Jacobs's comments and read all about the Headusher gloating how Jacobs is shopping for the perfect Strawman candidate to run and silence all the complaints about his appointment. Less than 48 hours later, the press announcement - and at exactly that time, Rumler was seen in person by a close source signing his petitions in Moline.

Stupid if it is Mike Jacobs blogging in as the Usher huh... but then again, open mouth, insert bus!

Oh, I see.

Seems like kind of a stretch though. To think that Denny somehow pulled Rumler back from a solid position in DC.

Perhaps the gusher was blessed with coincidental timing.

Solid position in DC? YEAH RIGHT!
At the lowest rung of the congressinal office staff.
Hey I just had great idea to save money.
Have these kids that get staffer jobs in DC working for the congressman or senator empty the trash mop the floors etc.
They are probably getting paid to do a lot of sitting around anyway!
We could save the taxpayers millions by making these brats that go to DC and get a big head do a little work for a change

Rumler worked for Steny Hoyer in DC. If you don't know, Hoyer is the second highest ranking Democrat in Congress. Seems like pretty good experience to me. More impressive than Mike's "downstate liason to Jesse White", which he did from his house.

Experience isn't something that Jacobs should base his campaign around.
