Obama to open branch office in Quads

As reported at John Beydler's "The Passing Parade", word has leaked that Obama is planning to open an office in the Illinois Quad Cities.

Any "between jobs" or "underemployed" wonks or wonkettes ought to jigger your resumes and go for it. Here's a chance to catch some of that Obama cache.

Mike Jacobs should dust off that resume and hedge his bets :)

Given that Sen. Mike Jacobs has a job, perhaps Paul Rumbler, who doesn't have a visible source of income, may be interested in the position! If nothing else it would help Rumbler explain who is paying his rent!

How'd senator Mikey get his job? Merit? HAHAHAHAHAAAAA HARDY HAR HAR!!!!

Better think again before trying this stupid angle.

And that's real cute the way you insist on misspelling your opponent's names. We used to laugh about stuff like that back in grade school. But some of us moved on.

But perhaps "Rumbler" is an appropriate name for the up and comer candidate. It implies a toughness and willingness to fight.

Little Senator Mikey might be in for more of a rumble than he arrogantly thinks.

Note to Voter Guide. Got your comment but I'm not going to publish it until you can restrain yourself from the stupid stunt of misspelling Rumler's name. It's not cute, it's not funny, and it's a no-class move.

If you have something to say, at least try to muster up some maturity before doing so. The standards around here aren't exactly real high. But you still haven't cleared the bar.

Last this blogger knew, Mikey Jacob's contract with/on the people of his district only lasts thru '06, so his job is only temporary.
Maybe Mikey J. could build up his resume a bit with that Obama staff job (kinda like Rumler did serving in D.C.) and then come back and challenge his new/old nemesis Paul R. in the following election!

I hope Senator Obama does not follow Congressman Evans and John G and award this job to the individual who will take the lowest pay, is fresh out of college, or, worst of all is not from this area. He needs to fill this with somone like a Porter McNeil, media savvy, and a good D, but something tells me the lowest bidder will be awarded this contract. Something RI dems have yet to learn is how to reward their own. Come Obama, let a western illinois native do this job for you, I am sure they will be better then a recent WIU, SIU grad from outside the area....

My guess is that it will go to someone who hasn't paid any dues....

There are lots of other folks out there that are deserving of a chance like Pat O'Brien for one!

It seems to be a hard and fast rule as far as political staff goes, that you must hire someone for whom acne is still a pressing concern.

If you're 25, you're over the hill.

The rule is, hire a goofy kid who knows squat about the area, pay him peanuts, let him go out and spend four months pay on a fancy-ass suit and italian loafers so he can feel like a big shot, then work him like a rented mule.

Thanks Voterguide, for your reliably vicious, negative, no-class comment. Don't ever change. You're a real credit to your candidate.

I don't think Obama will make the same mistakes that Governor Blagojevich made in appointing so many young, and out of area, even out of state individuals to various positions in his administration. But do remember that Denny Jacobs was the first person locally and one of the first elected officials state wide to support his former Senate mate, Sen. Obama. So I would think Sen. Obama would get Denny's opinion on this subject and that certainly should help good, young local Democrats Porter McNeil or Pat O'Brien. I certainly know they are associates, and in the case of Mr.McNeil, a very close ally of Denny and Sen Mike Jacobs; So I too hope he is considered. Porter's work with WIU and the Chamber, as well as with Senator Jacobs (both) and former Rep DeJaegher, and his extensive connections (Tom Dart, US Rep Lane Evans, Speaker Madigaon) certainly puts him on the top of my list. Good Luck Porter.

Thanks for that Porter, er Anon... (just kidding)

At any rate, I can't argue with your points, but I can't help but wonder, since McNeil and O'Brian can both safely be said to harbor ambition for office, would taking a gig with Obama be a shrewd move?

Voter guide,

I too share your sputtering illiterate outrage that a guy who was born and raised in Moline would have the sheer nerve and arrogance to,

A. go out of town to get a college degree and graduate with honors.

B. pursue employment in his area of training and interest

C. Work hard and get said employment, actually taking positions on Democratic congressmen's staff in D.C. AND have the gall to actually live there while he worked there.

D. Return to the area he's lived 99% of his life in to challenge a connected empty suit of a state senator for office whose only prior employment was in a essentially no-show state patronage job before he, like Bush Jr., got into office due to his Daddy. The only difference being, of course, that Bush has actually been elected (sort of), while no one on the planet earth has ever cast a vote for our current state senator.

And this without having paid thousands of dollars to the machine big wigs in exchange for their support. In essence, daring to actually run for office without kissing the godfather's hand.

These facts should outrage every man, woman, and child. I'm sure our senator will want to highlight them at every opportunity.

Your continued attacks are more than justified.

You're way out of line for trying to suggest that I'm Paul Rumler. I've never so much as spoken to Rumler and it's typical of your nasty and bullshit approach to politics that you'd try to suggest that with NO proof.

It's further proof of your arrogance that you think anyone who sees you as an empty suit and welcomes a challenger must therefore be the candidate himself.

Beleive me, as the yard signs sprouting all over the place show, there's more than one person who feels that Rumler might just be a vast improvement over who we were saddled with by no choice of our own.

Keep taking the low road. The voters will respond accordingly.

And every time you sing that "unemployed" song, they'll be reminded of your sorry resume.

Keep on hammering nails in your own coffin.

And again, I have NOTHING to do with the Rumler campaign whatsoever.

It's only YOUR campaign which thinks it's the way to go to post ridiculous comments in the guise of anonymous pseudonyms.

I feel confident that if Rumler ever wanted to stoop so low as to respond to your garbage, he'd do so under his own name. Something that you evidently have chosen not to do.

That's your idea of intellegent commentary? Pathetic.

What's this!! Knock me over with a feather!!!

Voterguide leaving a comment with a straight, reasonable opinion with no name calling, name misspelling, or going off into la-la land???!!

Oh! This is the best Thanksgiving ever!!

Atta boy Voterguide/Headusher/CountyDemo.

Your views are just as valid as anyone else's, if you just state them without being insulting or disrespectful.

I knew you could do it!!!!

Woo hoo!

Sad to say, but I think "semi-real" is probaably as close to real as Jacobs is capable of getting.

So nice to have a straw man in the house...... makes it all a nice package for the Jacobs future aspirations....semi-real is what both campaigns for Senate in IL 36th will be.

happy holidays folks.
