Sarah Kolb trial begins

In what will undoubtedly prove to be a showcase trial for all involved, drawing enormous amounts of publicity even on a nationwide scale, the trial of Sarah Kolb, the now 17 year old charged with the grisly murder of 16 year old Adrianne Reynolds.

8 of the 12 jurors who will hear the case were seated today, with jury selection to continue Tuesday morning, with opening arguments slated to begin Wednesday.

Politically, this is Terronez's golden moment, but he's going up against some very tough opposition in public defender Dave Hoffman, an experienced, tough, tenacious, and very sharp attorney in his own right.

Of interest is the fact that another defendant, Cory Gregory, was not listed on the witness list for the prosecution.
Cory C. Gregory, 17, of Moline, is also charged with murder in the case. Nathan Gaudet, 16, of Moline, pleaded guilty in March to concealing a homicide in connection with the case.

During jury selection this morning, prospective jurors were read a list of 46 names of people who may testify for the state, and a list of 28 names of people who may testify for the defense. Mr. Gregory, who last week was negotating with prosecutors about the possibility of testifying against Ms. Kolb, was not among those listed by the state. Mr. Gaudet was listed, as were various police officers, forensic experts and teachers and students from the Black Hawk Outreach Center.

Twelve jurors and two alternates will be chosen to hear the evidence. Selection of the 14 was expected to take up to two days, and the presentation of evidence about 10 days to two weeks.

State's Attorney Jeff Terronez is the lead prosecutor. Public Defender David Hoffman is the lead defense attorney. The trial is being held in the Rock Island County Justice Center.

Ms. Kolb, dressed in black slacks, a white turtleneck and a gray sweater, turned occasionally and smiled at members of her family. She was arrested and charged in the case Jan. 26, hours after Ms. Reynolds body was found. She's been in custody since.

So glad the cameras are locked out. Drawings are enough along with the good inked articles we can read to follow the progress.

Once again the QC Times is head and shoulders above the Dispatch/Argus on reporting this story with more meaty info and detail so you don't miss anything. The ARgus/Dispatch has this event in their own backyard and can't figure out how to completely report the story.... once again proving they are kinda like the National Enquirer!!

okay i think that all of this is bogas.... she killed adrianne renolds and she needs to be put in jail for this for the rest of her life. and sarah needs to think about what she has done. It says in the news paper that Sarah Kolb said she was attracted to adrianne and was apset that she was having sex with boys. but merly pulled Adriannes hair and yelled at her. okay so she is jelouse so what... that still doesnt give her the right to take someones life.... and she will never be able to live again.... the girl didnt no her parents and there for didnt live her life to find them.... what sarah has done to this girl is wronge and the others that helped her they did it to its not just sarahs fault its theres to. Im 16 and if someone took a family member out of my life like that i would be sure to let them no what they have done is wronge. and the person who doesnt think she did it is very wronge. for all we no he could be a convicted felon. but what ever. the teenagers are al sick twited and wronge and have to live with this for the rest of there life. no job or anything. cause this will be on there perminted record.

okay you people need to grow up. this isn't a site for you to leave messages telling someone that they need to learn how to spell or telling eveyone how great it is fucking sarah kolb. this site isn't about ya'll so get over yourself and grow the fuck up!! sarah got 125 years for what she did. no, i don't think she is getting punished enough, but if you really think about it in a few years she is going to feel the pain of what she did. i knew adrianne, i went to school with her in white oak texas, and we were pretty good friends, but i can't bring her back and neither can ya'll. i do think its funny, though, how all of ya'll think ya'll know all about her life ya'll don't know shit!!! JUST GROW THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

sentencing for sarah hasnt happened yet the word is though she could get 65 years not 125...which i think still isnt enough but im not the judge...if she does get 65 years and serves the whole sentence and is still alive she will be 82 years old. just like adrianne she will never get married or have children (unless she gets out early which i hope she doesnt or somehow it happens in prison) they also had to take new mug shots of her because after her sentencing she shaved her head except for a little bit of bangs in the front. its a strange sad unbelievable situation and im glad that there is a little bit of closure for everyone...

There are way too many immature people posting in here. As for the case, I dont hope for anything. The justice system should do what it does best which is punish criminals. As for this publicity that everyone is talking about....its only a local thing. I havent heard a single NATIONAL reporter even speak the words of what happened on that tragic day. I have a question for anyone who wants to respond.....Was there even an amber alert? because I dont really think there was...I feel sorry for these heartless people who murdered her...but it hurts more to know that someone could have NO MERCY when there looking into your eyes while killing you. My Prayers for ALL

Man...talk about midwest white trash. It isn't just the girl and her ex-boyfriend who should get the chair, but the parents of all of these people...for raising such scum. And not to blame the victim by any means, but she sounds like she was a bit...shall we say...lacking in parental supervision and dignity. Nothing like the Heartland. America the Dumb.
