Blago's "All Kids" program a done deal

SPRINGFIELD -- Despite Republican protests, it took all of three days for Democrats to push through Gov. Rod Blagojevich's plan to provide health care to Illinois' uninsured children.

The final hurdle had been the Illinois House, which approved the All Kids program Thursday afternoon. The fast-tracked legislation flew through the Senate the day before.

Chalk one up for Blagojevich and the Dems, but now let's see if the plan is just an inspirational gimmick or actually workable.

Show me the money Jacobs and I may believe. I doubt this thing will ever get off the ground.

What a sad deal - Blago using little kids to boost his ratings as they tank.

First of all, it's a blatant lie to suggest that Jacobs "moved" the AllKids bill through the senate.

And suggesting it somehow took a lot of political skill to vote in favor of this measure is pathetic.

Though that does depend on how the many health care corporation PACs that donated to the senator's campaign told him to vote.

He may have not voted the way they paid him to vote, though I doubt it.

Slakjaw - you make very good points but I still think a lot of opportunistic pols are latching onto this happy little program and won't have the guts or know how to fund it--- starting from the top with the Guv all the way down to Sen Jacobs - I believe that not one of them is going to articulate how it's going to be funded.

It will be a nice little picture on their campaign lit and won't do a dam thing to help anyone's kids unless they show us a real plan to really fully fund their nice little "get re-elected easy" plan....

Otherwise it's just typical BS created cause their pol numbers are in the tank. I suspect the truth is that it's the BS and we will be standing here a year from now wondering what ever happened to the idea???

Everyone knows a program does not exist without funding. I keep asking this blog and it's readers where is the money??

Jacobs does nothing to respond - except to beat up on me - what a wimp.....Blago does nothing but talk about his "idea". Where is the leadership on this? I am sick of people talking big stuff and not doing a single substantive thing while holding elected office!!

Usher - I mean Mike Jacobs - where is the money? How will this initiative be funded in our time of red ink in Springfield??

Tell me how so I can believe. Otherwise it's irresponsible and cheap to keep pumping up your chest about a do nothing program. Without funds, it's dead on arrival....

Comon - a straight answer from Jacobs would be appropriate if that is ever possible!

Wow! You can tell it will be election time soon.
The Democrats are spending other people's money to get themselves re-elected.
Blago is going to spend, spend, spend.
I don't have the slightest idea were the money will come from.
I thought the state was broke?

It's hard to imagine financially secure men and women battering Illinois Senator Denny Jacobs for his role in insuring 250,000 children in Illinois now have affordable, comprehensive health care. One would think real Democrats would be pleaswed. Afterall, this has been the goal of the Democrat Party ever since Hillary Clinton brought the idea up some 14 years ago!

Whatever miniscule role Mike Jacobs had here in this good idea that he didn't think of by the way -- unless it gets funding it is DOA.

Everyone with a brain understands that... But oh yeah, we are talking about Mike Jacobs. Never mind -- he doesn't get it - or doesn't care as long as he thinks he may look good saying something.

Have your idol write a piece on how this program is going to get its funds and then we can talk seriously about the viability of such an idea/program.

Let it be known throught Dopedom that from this point hence, any personal insults and sniping will be dealt with appropriately.

You're free to respond, and even disagree, as long as you do it in an agreeable way. Try to avoid goading each other as it only serves to perpetuate this running battle, and it's gone on too long and is wearing people out.

Thank you. That is all.

All I want to know is how the program will be funded Dope. Nobody wants to give me a straight answer.....

All I know is that Senator Mike Jacobs helped a lot of children in our area get comprehesive, affordable heath insurance! Way to go Mike!
