The way Toby sees things

Yet another example of right-wing deep thinking from the letters to the editor of the Quad City Times:
Sen. Barrack Obama has expressed a lack of confidence of victory in Iraq on this the eve of the Fourth of July. Too bad we didn't have him around in 1776 to lend such encouragement. No wonder Army recruitment is down or maybe that's the idea here, to damage the effort in order to gain political advantage in 2008. Hopefully, that's too cynical even for the liberals.

Is your child in the military? Don't you feel better now with Sens. Obama and Durbin running up the white flag while the battle continues? Just exactly how do the liberals propose to protect us from terrorists? Talk them to death?

Yeah Toby, that's what we want to do. After we offer them therapy.

As Toby realizes, any true patriot who, as they tell us, are the only ones who really cares for our heroic troops, knows that the best way to support the troops is to continue to deploy them in an impossible situation with too few numbers and inadequate equipment, so they can continue to be killed and mangled and damaged in a million ways while trying to accomplish the impossible with no plan and no victory possible.

True Patriots like Toby know this. Too bad the liberals can't quite see the logic in it.

Toby put down the remote and step away from the nimrods on FOX televesion.
The WAR on TERROR is a campaign gimic. And if you disagree with Karl Rove and Dick Cheney you are unpatriotic!
I guess the people on FOX were thrilled there was an attack in England. Oddly enough it was the same day the chimporer had to acknowledge global warming was real. But now because of the terrorist attack we wont be talikng about anything with any substance! And the British intellegence have made the statement that it was none of the people they had been moitoring hmm?

It's no wonder Army recruitment is down. You have to be living with your head in the sand to be unaware of the danger of enlistment these days.

During the Regan years when people started seeing the Pell grant's worth shrinking, that GI Bill for college looked pretty good so we had our poor and middle class join up for their future to get a good job someday and education to get there.

Now, folks have a fear they may not make it back alive from war or that they may be missing some vital body parts and be unable to work let alone attend school, and since our VA is not exactly keeping its promise to honor those who sacrifice, then it stands to reason that the youth don't buy into the Republican hogwash about draping themselves with the flag.

Next thing that happens if we continue to allow the rich Republicans to run things is the Draft. And guess whose kids will automatically get exemptions for all kinds of reasons? Not the poor or middle class - but the kids of the rich.

The current ARmy recruiters are running out of places to go to find fresh meat - and their marketing is getting weaker by the day. What do they say to the new recruits now? ----Hey, how about going off to war to see the world - where there are bombs buried in the streets, the people hate us, the military does not protect its solidiers with proper gear, and when you have a couple days of leave time, there aren't even any pubs or bars to get any beer or booze......

Yeah, that really reels em in!!

Except, last month recruitment was back to normal, reenlistment is up, and people like you who claim the only way to really support our troops is to keep them out of harm's way are dangerous. Let's just disband the military altogether. Thank God for for the brave soldiers.

Dave, they are so dam brave - and also they are stuck in a bad situation - or just plain ignorant. What a waste of humanity for oil and rich folks.

This "war" is nothing more than a way for Bush and company to make money - to pad Bush's resume and it was a sure fire re-election tac for him in 2004. Thou it almost didn't work - until Bush did very dishonorable things against Kerry who actually served his country in Vietnam vs. Geo Bush who hid out in some undisclosed location high on coke avoiding his fitness exam for flight duty.... and never finished his service.

Just drap that flag on yourself and pretend it's alright like the rest of our ignorant Joe Public who are so uninformed they actually believe the drivel spoon fed to them by Karl Rove via Bush and his rantings.

You guys are pathetic and you don't care about our future generations either.

Oh yeah Dave - I don't believe the Army recruitment is up for a minute. You are full of BS and trying to make believe like Bush does every day on the media outlets. I guess you just think Dave that if you say it enough times it's true. BSh-----.

The poor and less fortunate of our country are still entitled to an education last time I checked. And it appears that they are not as dumb as the Republicans and the Army recruiters had hoped and they are not walking but running the other way when the suits come around promising the great life - to become cannon fodder.

No their mothers are telling them to study and go to COLLEGE -not to the Military. To get scholarships - not the GI BILL.

As long as we still have public schools, they have a chance to learn like the rest of us no matter how poor they are so I guess you Republicans have to dust off the Draft or get the hell out of Iraq pretty soon.

So he sent our young men and women to "pad his resume" ? To make money? Go talk to someone who's actually in the service. I'm guessing you haven't served nor do you know anyone on a personal level who hwas either. Recruitment in June met the quota. The quotas were not lowered. Put your tin foil hat back on and believe anyone associated with Bush is lying to you so Dick Cheney can make money.
