Church, Boy Scout leader admits to being BTK strangler

WICHITA, Kansas (AP) -- BTK suspect Dennis Rader pleaded guilty Monday to 10 counts of first-degree murder, admitting in a chillingly matter-of-fact voice to a series of slayings that terrorized the city beginning in the 1970s.

The onetime president of the church council at Christ Lutheran Church and Boy Scout leader, Rader admitted killing 10 people in the Wichita area between 1974 and 1991. The serial killer known as BTK -- the self-coined nickname that stands for "Bind, Torture, Kill" -- taunted media and police with cryptic messages.

The Lord moves in mysterious ways.

I actually saw him in court as they led him through his murders and had him describe in detail just how he went about them.
Really bizarre. He was very business-like about it. It was full of recounting how he'd strangle or suffocate men, women, and children, then go on to the next, then find out that one or two were still alive and moving and then going back to finish them off, etc.
In one account he mentioned that after he'd killed a woman he had to hurry and gather his things and leave because he had a previous engagement to attend and didn't want to be late.

As of yet, he's expressed no regrets about any of it, though they say he probably will at the sentencing hearing.
