Criminals beware! The Senior Squad is on the beat

Rock Island's 3 year old senior volunteer patrol is looking for a few Dirty Elmer's and pistol-packing Pearl's. (well, except they won't be packing heat)

In addition to patrols and special events, the seniors also help with office duties, checking on houses when owners are absent, and enforcing handicapped parking.

The seniors ride in pairs in used squad cars and have radios to keep in touch with other officers and Rock Island Police Department dispatchers. The seniors are not placed in confrontational situations, don't carry guns and have no arrest powers.

So watch out you hooligan whipper-snappers. Grandma Madge has a badge.
