Who may or may not be Mayor?

Mayoral races are tomorrow (don't forget to vote) and they should prove to be exciting. Shaping up to be one of the most hard fought is the East Moline race pitting incumbant Joe Moreno against John Thodos.

Both Thodos, and Moreno have web sites. They might provide some further info for those of you who enjoy partisan PR.

The line on this race gives the edge to Moreno, but anything could happen with Thodos picking up some important endorsements, including that of Mike Boland.

The Dope recommends all decent respectible Moline types get out and vote O'Brien.

(postscript: I should change the above to ALL Molne types. I wouldn't want to limit turnout. -ahem-)

Results posted tomorrow. Post or e-mail any developments to me if you wish.

Don't forget about Milan. Vote for Mike Cockerill for Mayor. It's time to give someone else a chance to make a difference.

And Rock Island Township has the hot Supervisor race between incumbant John Brown, Jr. and Rock Island Alderman Terry Brooks who wants to be both Supervisor and Alderman. The voters should prevent any further litigation that the offices are incompatible and return John Brown to the job. I have heard nothing from Brooks about what his plans are if elected and Mr. Brown has worked hard to prove that townships are a necessary and vital part of our local government and has served the residents of Rock Island well.

One thing is crystal clear: State Rep. Mike Boland has a lot of riding on Tuesday's election. He has thrown his full weight and support behind Thodos for Mayor of East Moline. He is going all the way on this one.

If Thodos wins, Tuesday will be a big win for Mike Boland. But if Jose Moreno wins, that will be a crushing defeat for Mike Boland who has made this his number one priority.

Stay tuned.

Tuesday is a lose/lose proposition for Boland.

If Thodos defeats Moreno, the Hispanic community is going to be perturbed with Mike Boland's last minute smear campaign.

Regardless of what Boland claims, East Moline Mayor Jose Moreno is a rising star in the fast growing Hispanic community.

If Jose Moreno survives the on-slought, look for the young mayor to enter the primary field against old Mike Boland.

Only Mike Boland could unite East Moline Mayor Jose Moreno and Senator Denny Jacobs in common cause.

Either way it goes, Boland is a clear loser on Tuesday!

I changed my vote to Moreno after getting my endorsement call from Boland.

The race will be hot. And by the time the sun comes up tomorrow, we'll know who's mayor.

Post your thoughts in the Election night thread above. It should be an interesting night.

Congratulation to John Thodos and Pat O'Brien on their victories. As well, thanks to Jose Moreno and all the fine candidates that fell short tonight.

If you won, get ready to work. If you lost, stay involved and prepare yourself for the next election cycle!
