Will he make it??

Watching this clip, one wonders. Better get that Geritol I.V. going.

I know, we're all worn out just watching this crap, surely McCain's a bit "bushed", if you will, at this point. Hell, we all are. But before you're "ready on day one", you have to make it to day one. I think it's old John that needs a couple days in Hawaii more than Barack.

Items of note from the late campaign insanity....

- Someone needs to see if Joe Biden is drunk. I can't conceive of any other reason someone with his time in politics would make such collossally IDIOTIC mistakes and say such breathtakingly stupid things, all from the desire to convince people he knows things.

- Palin is more of a joke, and more of a mistake, than even Obama supporters could have hoped. Now it's revealed that the cash strapped Republican National Committee spent $150,000 bucks on clothes and baubles for her and her freaky family over just a couple months. This, by the way, is more than their new best friend, Joe the Plumber's ENTIRE HOUSE is worth.

Some Hockey Mom. Sure politicians are phonys, some more than others, but rarely do we get the rather nauseating experience of witnessing someone so blatantly and transparently phony and as big a fraud as the Palin spectacle. Are we lucky to have witnessed a new high in lows? Not really. It's just getting progressively more pathetic and sickening as they stumble to election day.

I predicted some months ago that if the election were to come down to Obama vs. McCain, we'd all get to see the true racism that inhabits the core of the Republican party come right out in broad daylight.

I was right. The "Obama Bucks" put out by Republican party officials in California was brought to light a few days ago, and it's but one example among many of racist Republican asshats across the land who have been so accustomed to the blatant racism among their party members that they do such things without even realizing just how repulsive and embarassing they are.

These squirely-birds, far from being "real Americans" or patriots, or the Godly chosen ones, they've tried so desperately and so long to convince themselves and others they are, are more un-American than any of their imaginary boogy-men, and about as far from having American "values" as anyone could possibly get.

They're an embarassment to all decent citizens, and we should be grateful that at least some of them are being exposed.

Nico,
I predicted months ago that as the election got close, right wingers would literally start to lose their minds and we'd see the fever swamp that is their true feelings brought right to the surface.

You, the girl who staged a mugging and assault and tried to pin it on a "dark black man" who did it because she supported McCain, the fruitbat who bashes Obama for taking "a 767" to Hawaii to say good bye to his dying grandmother, saying he should be carrying his own bags and taking a smaller plane, (and who had to exagerate even what plane Obama flies, which is a 757, not a 767), Rush the mental hemmoroid who, predictably, is not trying to ascribe sinister motives for Obama VISITING THE GRANDMOTHER WHO RAISED HIM IN THE LAST WEEKS OF THE CAMPAIGN BECAUSE SHE MAY NOT LIVE TO SEE NOV. 4th, and now you, finally driven so nuts by the spectre that some non-religiously insane black person might get into the White House and unleash every boogie-man phobia that inhabits your fearful imagination.

I'm sure you're a fine person. But the dumb-ass part of your brain is winning the struggle I'm afraid.

Am I being too rough on you?

I might have thought so, if it weren't for the fact that you've consistently made comments which clearly showed your disdain for Obama due to his race, and constantly have tried to dismiss and denigrate the fact that he's gotten where he is by saying it's solely due to the color of his skin. (and worse, assuming that everyone agrees!)

Do you have any idea what a vile insult that is? Not only to Obama, but to anyone who happens to be black, or Muslim, or whatever?

You know what Nico, if anyone could HONESTLY accuse someone of having gotten where they are due to their race, it's any black person in this country who could, honestly, and with great probability that they were right, say that YOU wouldn't be where you are if you hadn't been white!

There are MILLIONS and MILLIONS of people who wouldn't be where they are now if they hadn't been white.

So are you going to be just as dismissive of John McCain, who NEVER would have been allowed to even enroll in the Naval Accademy, let alone been allowed to fail miserably and still graduate, if he hadn't been white as hell and the son and grandson of Admirals?

Admirals who rose through the ranks in a time when blacks weren't allowed to do anything in the navy except load dangerous ordinance or cook or do the most lowly and physically demanding jobs?

And you have the freaking NERVE to come here and spout your bullshit suggesting that Obama is only where he is because he's BLACK???

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??

Do YOU wish you were black???

Why not??

You'd have all the advantages, right?

You'd probably be the presidential nominee if only you were fortunate enough to be black, right?

Your an idiot sometimes Nico, and now is one of them.

Grow up Nico, seriously.

What exactly is this supposed to prove, Nicodemus? Could you spell this out for me?

Is it that "We'd better elect the old white guy, because otherwise the Negroes will take over!" Is that what you're saying?

I have already answered and explained this, maybe on the other threads. If Obama weren't Black, he would not have stood out. He would be just another White liberal, and an experienced one at that. He wouldn't have gotten the nomination if it were not for his being Black, which made him stand out. He would be another non-entity like John Edwards, Joe Biden, Dennis Kucinich, Chris Dodd, etc. What else would have made him stand out? His great speeches? (gee, I'm impressed) His extensive resume?

This observation is not being racist, that is just how it is.

Now I won't deny for a minute that the Obama camp has run a better campaign in the general election. McCain is not the most telegenic fellow and surely there are things that they could have done differently. But it also seems that anything that could have gone wrong did.

Every 4 years they always say "Oh this is the most important election in a lifetime!" and all these kinds of dramatic statements. People get panicky. Well I have seen Presidents come and go. I don't think things will be that drastically different a year from now, whether the president is Black or White or Green or Purple.

Nico,
Perhaps being black got him a bit more notice, but being noticed does NOT mean you're going to go anywhere in your campaign.

Jesse Jackson got noticed for being black as well.

Why didn't he prevail against all others and become president?

By your tortured and racist logic, he should have.

What you are doing is conveniently ignoring the other 99% of Obama that is the real reason he's popular, and that's a gross insult both to him as a person and candidate, as well as to the millions who support him.

The fact remains that Obama indeed may very well have ended up where he is if he had been white.

You're just clinging to a decidedly stupid rationale to dismiss his success.

That's sad.

OH. OKAY. AND WHAT "REASON" IS THAT, PRAY TELL?

Nico,
I'm not going to write the book about why Obama appeals to voters. The reasons could number in the thousands, from his health care proposals, to his economic plans, to his committment to getting out of the mess in Iraq, to the simple fact that he won't run the country as if government only exists to help millionaires and the well-connected.

The list goes on and on and on.

You either get it or you don't.

You want to continue following Republcan policies and ideologies that have proven to be utter failures.

Explain THAT.

I think more people are baffled by how someone could support continuing to take this country down the tubes than they are about why anyone would support Obama and what he represents.
