Obama Time coverboy

Already on Time's cover as "The Next President", is there a danger Obama might peak too soon?

He needs to run now, he has few Senate votes to challenge and tons of charisma and national prestige. If you look at what happened to those that have been in the Senate to long, the Republicans twist there votes and call them "flip-floppers." Obama has been on the foriegn affairs committee, so he has a little foreign expereince. He has also served on the Energy subcommittee and the Veteren Affairs committee. Now, one can say that this is political posturing for the Dems young star, but this guy is the real deal. I hope he runs. Edwards only has two year expereince on him, and th e last year in the Senate he was running for Pres. and VP. I say he should go for it, and I think he will.

If you want him to have more experience in foreign relations. I have got his running mate... General Wesley Clark.

Obama/Clark 08.... it has a ring to it

He has as much foreign policy experience as Clinton and Bush did when they through their hat in the ring.

I think he should run. I agree with the above poster, who said that running now takes away the ability for Rove & the Gang to attack specific votes out of context.. Obama has been very consistent in articulating what he stands for and is incredibly charismatic.

There is every danger he not only peaks too soon but spends too much energy being a celebrity and not enough being a legislator.

Great guy but he's gotta be careful not to become a caricature of himself.

Time has a photo essay on "Being Obama" online at http://www.time.com/time/photoessays/2006/obama/

One of the pictures was shot at the event in Rock Island and if you squint hard, you can see Pat O'Brien almost off the far right edge of the picture and his wife Cecelia in the upper left of the shot.

There's some nice shots of Obama at his home with is wife and kids as well.

The cover shot of Obama with some shades on also catches Time columnist and author Joe Klein on the left and Obama's D.C. spokesman tinkering with his Blackberry (which is basically all staff seem to do these days) on the right.
