Apologies

Sorry for the interruption in your regularly scheduled programming, but life intruded and I'm busy digging out. I hope to have more bloggy goodness for you ASAP... hopefully later today.

In the meantime, talk amongst yourselves.

Re: New I-74 bridge.
The new bridge is more than 10 years away. I hope that in the meantime they can manage to only schedule maintanence on it when the other bridges are not also being repaired.

I just hope they can design something that's half as striking as the current 74 bridge. I was generally opposed to the idea of replacing the I-74 bridge, because it still leaves us with the same number of Mississippi River bridges we had before. However, once they started talking about it being 8 lanes wide, I started to come around to the idea. I just hope they can come up with something unique.

Diehard.... Yes, Let's salute those with sawdust in their veins, the unsung heros of hit and run con games and rickety rides... the Carney.

People look down on them, but hey, if they hadn't been high on crystal meth, do you think they could have climbed that rig that fast? It's time they get their due.

But all joking aside, it was truly a blessing that the poor guy was rescued without any serious injuries or death.

It put the Dope in mind of the time I took a huge van load of retarded adults on a three day trip to Adventureland in DesMoines.

Of course, The Dope safely returned all her charges after a good time was had by all. But the fact remained that it was The Dope that was tempted to jump out of some of the rides in terror while the clients, in contrast, were having the times of their lives. It was a testament to The Dope's devotion to duty that I honored their requests to ride the scariest rides over and over while valiantly battling the overwhelming urge to lose my lunch.

The Dope sez: Bridge good, access layout on RI side, very bad.

Anyone see the design in the paper? It routes all Blackhawk road traffic onto the bridge, if you want to continue on to Black Hawk park or points west, you have to take a circuitous exit and wind your way around again.
It also puts a big kink in traffic heading eastbound from west R.I.

Doesn't look too smooth at all. What was wrong with simply putting in a stop light intersection to turn onto the bridge?

Are you talking about the new Rock River bridge? Veteran's bridge at Carr's Crossing or whatever you crazy Illinoisans named it? We were discussing the new I-74 bridge.

I wasn't paying enough attention... I admit it. I was remarking on the plan for the Rock River bridge, obviously. No I-74 bridge would have access to Blackhawk Rd.

I read this thread and then came back to it a couple days later and made the mistake of not reading all the comments again. Sorry for commenting on the wrong bridge.
