Mega-complex to be built in Moline

A $100 million dollar shopping/restaurant/hotel/residential complex is to be built along John Deere Road between 60th and 70th streets in Moline.
According to the proposed site plan, the mixed-use development could include a bank, drug store, garden shop, seven restaurants, seven retail spaces and 14 anchor stores, including one that would be 136,513 square feet.

A five-story, 75,000-square-foot hotel is also part of the project.

More than six acres have been put aside for residential use. Possible uses include senior housing, student housing for nearby Black Hawk College or multi-family housing.

At the southeast corner of the site, a 10-acre parcel can be used for office development or for an indoor sports and fitness center.

The partners in Deere Road Properties are Mid-American Development Partners LLC, of Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., and Equity Growth Group, of Bettendorf.

Fantastic. It's time we had something like that on the Illinois side of the river.

We're in Milan, watching tax dollars fly over to Iowa.

It does sound like an exciting prospect. This is a very ambitious project with a good mix of busineses and residential properties. I hope it's well planned and laid out, unlike the Wal-mart mall area where the outter drive is terribly laid out as is the two entry and exit routes. And the swampy sub-soil started to sink almost immediately, causing the roadway to crack and sink.
