the GTR is bad for business, and bad for me, for I am an Illinois farmer. I am a democrat, but will not attend this rally. I would rather see an elimination of the propetry tax, and a raising of the income tax in order to address health care and education in our state.

Anon, I'm not a big fan of the GRT, but could you explain how it will hurt farmers. From what I have seen and heard it has loop holes for small businesses, such as most farmers.

I am all for tax reform, but I think the GRT is not the way to go. I believe we need to close the loop holes that are present in the tax system we have now and lesson the burden on the lower middle class that has had to make hard sacrifices in order to survive.

it hurts farmers because every product we buy, or sell will be hit with the GTR, fertilizer, seed, feed, gas, trucking, grain elevators, we are a high volume low margin operator in corn, beans, and pork. our margins are 1/2 to 1% on fertilizer alone. I will go to Indiana, or elsewhere now to buy fertilizer. my local grain elevator, will be impaceted, so now, i may have to cross over to Iowa to sell corn, and forget about buying a combine, planter, sprayer, or any other large piece of equipment. Every business, even the smallest business I deal with, my local LP provider, produces more then 1 million in GTR's. It is a pyramid tax and is no good.

Anon, thank you for that insight. It slipped my mind that most of the suppliers are going to fall into the tax bracket.

Madigan? That's the last thing we need! Madigan and his minnions have been running the state for 20 years and all they have done is drive it into the ground!

Mike Madigan runs Lisa Madigan like a Deere. For you not to understand this Scott is hard to fathom!

Mike Madigan has shaken down every member of his caucus and every lobbiest in the State in her behalf.

Once again, the last thing we need is Madigan (Mike or Lisa) running our state! You think Blagojevich is a commie!

Sheeeshhhh!

Yeeesh?

Madigan may be your choice, but Alexi G. is a better choice.

Everyone watched last time as Mike and Lisa Madigan tried to destroy Alexi G. But it didn't work last time and it is not going to work this time. Alexi G. is going to be OUR next governor and their is nothing YOU or Boland's paymaster can do about it!

Yes, Madigan is for gays getting married and having children, but Alexi G. is traditional!

I assume you mean traditional as in typically corrupt Illinois pol? After all, his father and he are mega-bankers with ties to mob figures.

How's he planning to shake those facts?

And what exactly qualifies this young gazillionaire to be a governor of Illinois in the first place? Or is being a gazillionaire the only qualification needed in machine politics anymore?

Madigan runs the machine, so you will have to ask him what qualifications are needed. So far it looks to be helfull if your his daughter!

Yeah, I kinda noticed that nepotism is alive and well around here. Seems to be really big these days.

Doesn't matter how good you are, just which parents you picked.

Ya, that's all it is. If Lisa Madigan wasn't Mike Madigan's daughter, she wouldn't be your choice for governor. Nor would Sheila Simon!

WHy Dope are you for Lisa Madigan and Sheila Simon? I think that your choice is odd at best.

I suppose I'm flattered that you think I'm responsible for every comment left here, but sorry.

I've never said a word about either of the people you mention.
