Time to rub your balls

A telepathic commenter recently offered their predictions on the upcoming Illinois primary races and also read my mind. I've been planning on asking readers for their prognostication on how the field will fare for a while and here it is.

I know that there are readers who've had long experience in the trenches of local poltics or who have simply been close observers who can help us by offering their considered predictions. Even if you're just a casual observer, have some fun and take a shot at how you think things will end up.

For this purpose, please take the time when leaving your predictions to check the "other" button and enter a screen name of your choice. This way we can then look back and see who did well and who did not so well. But if everyone's the typical, lazy, "anonymous", it makes it impossible to know who did what.

I hope to ask for predictions once more at a point closer to the election, and then do a round up to see who gets to wear the crown as the best handicapper.

To kick things off, here are the predictions of our alert commenter.
You can just list your numbers, or give short explanations if you feel it's needed.

NOTE: EXCELLENT response to this so far. Thanks to all who've posted up their predictions. This should be fun to see who comes closest to getting it right.

Of course, if one of the "anonymous" predicters wins, it won't mean much. -sigh-

  1. I'm not quite in your neck of the woods so I can't comment on your local races. I've got my vote in already, god bless absentee balloting. Anywho:
    Blago - 65
    Eisendrath - 35
Eisendrath's campaign is so terrible that I had to sit on my absentee ballot for two days before I could stomach voting for Blago, but Eisendrath has done nothing to deserve my vote, and as much as Blago does suck, he has done some good things. Unfortunately other people I have talked to are of the same opinoin, that they'll be holding their nose and voting for Blago.

    Mangeri - 45
    The Greek 55
I see this race as Hynes Hull totals versus Obama totals from the 04 primary. I think this because most likely they will both attract the same type of coalitions behind them. If the Greek wins, I see a new power player in Illinois politics firmly entrenched.

  4. Blagojevich over EE 65-35

JBT wins, Obie place, Gidwitz shows

The winner of Mangieri-Giannoulias will have less than 55% of the vote.

    Lipinski 49, Sullivan 44, Kelly 5.

Duckworth, Cegelis and Scott: no one gets less than 25% and no one gets more than 40%.

  5. Jacobs 55
    Rumler 45

    Grchan 54
    Huff 46

Mowen wins by 10 over Zinga and Gilligan is way back

Oberweiss wins the GOP primary for Governor, powered by the far right

Mangieri defeats Gianulis for State Treasurer, 55-45.

  6. Kankakee... it's genetic... nothin' to it. I think men just want to check and make sure everything's still intact and in place. You'd hate to leave 'em behind somewhere, ya know.

Now NOT doing it.. that takes some self-control.

  7. And on a sad note, though I'm grateful for everyone who's offered their predictions, it looks like the chances that the eventual winner of the competition will likely be "anonymous" are good, thus largely wrecking the competition.

It's interesting that despite specifically and politely asking people to NOT post as anonymous, at least in this case for obvious reasons, they still ignore that simple request, even though it would require only a few seconds of their time and thought.

Pretty discouraging. Makes me think that perhaps a return to registered users only may be in order.

The picks so far have been excellent. Still lots of time to offer yours. Go for it! (and pick a name please)

Don't be stupid. Really, don't be stupid.
Stop. Reread your comment. Does it make sense?
Are you making something up out of thin air in order to attack me with it? Reading something into a post that's clearly not there or even implied?
Then don't bother posting. For that matter, if that's the case, don't bother coming back.
