Wonder what took them so long

"Puke" Williams, C-list talk radio moron, expresses the true racism of the right, saying that blacks are simply too stupid to escape a hurricane. He rants that the stupid blacks stood around the Superdome pleading for help when reporters were coming and going, suggesting that they were simply too dependent and inherently stupid to .. I don't know, grab a cab or walk 50 miles to get away, I guess.

It goes without saying that this fine Republican was utterly ignorant of what he was talking about. But you can't really formulate this kind of swinish drivel if you stick to facts. The truth spoils everything for these troglodites. The inconvenient fact in this case is that the people at the Super Dome were NOT ALLOWED to leave.

But who cares? The point is, blacks are lazy, dependent, passive, and utterly stupid people, and it's all the fault of the racist Democrats. Just listen, Williams explains it all.

Crooks and Liars has the story and the clip.

What do you think of this guy? He's the same gem who led the "You Don't Speak For Us Cindy" publicity stunt to lead a bunch of mouth-breathers down to Crawford to harrass Cindy Sheehan and her supporters.

Your original message did not indicate what radio station or station let this rascist scumbag use the public airways. I would suggest writing a formal complaint letter to the station manager (with a copy sent to the Federal Communications Commission) stating that broadcasts of this type of slime are not in the public interst, and then demand that the letter be placed in the station's public file. When you mention the words "public file," you will have said the secret words that will get the attention of the station's ownership, for there is no right-wing racist worth risking their radio license over.

I have to agree with DieHard. The state of Illinois wastes a lot of money on jobs for people that really dont do much if anything!

Randall,
Sorry for the omission and delay in reponse. I was out of town.

Mark Williams, aka "Puke", works for a station out of northern California owned by mega mega media corporation Clear Channel Communications, whose stations staged pro-war rallies and burned Dixie Chicks records. They're huge Bush supporters as they stand to become one of the handful of corporations who own all media thanks to Bush's repeal of regulations.

Williams bio page for the station can be found at http://www.kfbk.com/markwilliams.html

Williams works for KFBK, a 50,000 watt clear channel station heard from Alaska to the Baja peninsula.

Contact info as found on their "contact us" page

We have Clear Channel Communications here in the QC everyone. There are really only two stations here - the group owned by Cumulus Corp and the Clear Channel group. They are all so similar I forget who is who - but I think that the Dwyer and Michael team works for Clear Channel......

Anyone know for sure?

"The Quad City Radio Group" is owned by Clear Channel Communications, though they don't make this info readily available. (You have to click on their "employment" page.)

They own EIGHT stations in the Quad City market. The stations this enormous conglomerate owns are:

WLLR 103.7 FM
Q 106.5 FM
Mix 96 FM
KUUL 101.3 FM
WOC talk radio 1420 AM
WFXN FOX SPORTS 1230 AM
All Hit 98.9 FM
WKBF 1270 AM

Cumulus Communications owns FIVE stations in the Quad City market area:

WXLP 97 Rock FM Moline
KQCS Star 93.5 FM Bettendorf
KBEA B-100 FM Muscatine
KBOB Great Country 105 FM DeWitt
KJOC 1170 AM Davenport

So two national corporations own 13 stations in the Quad Cites market. That must be every commercial station in the area.

I guess we're just lucky it's not only one corporation which owns every single radio AND television station in town, as the Bush administration has allowed (thanks to the political hack Michael Powell (Colin's son) being placed at the head of the FCC)and which is currently the case in some areas.

It's an affront and an insult to the citizens of this country to maintain that the interests of the people are served by having such intense media conglomeration as to make the media more and more distant from the people of the area it's supposed to serve.

And never forget, the airwaves of this country belong to the people, yet these corporations make billions using them and imposing their will on us aided and helped by the Republicans in charge.

The Dope has had satellite radio for over a year now. But all I use it for is to listen to Air America 90% of the time and CNN, MSNBC, and C-Span broadcasts the rest of the time. And with nearly 200 commercial free channels, it's nice, but offers so much choice it's almost bewildering, plus you never know what's on when. You find yourself scanning around much like channel surfing on cable, but it takes you about 5 minutes to go through all 175 or more channels.
Of course, they've got channels devoted to reggae, african, show tunes, the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80,s 90s, four types of country, two christian rock channels, kids channels, two comedy channels, opera, lounge music, speed metal, heavy metal, grunge, three different types of latin music, folk, bluegrass, classic jazz, progressive jazz, cover all of Major League Baseball, other sports, weather and traffic reports for metropolitian areas and hundreds of others.. it's overwhelming.

As prices go down (if they do) it will become an attractive alternative.

One nice thing about it is that you can drive from Miami to Nome, Alaska listening to the same station if you wish. No more stations fading out as you loose signal.

But of course, since the satellites are low in the southern sky, anytime you're near a bluff or building on the south, the signal drops, a minor inconvenience.

Commercial radio is a vast wasteland, as is clearly evident if you visit the website of say, WXLP. Clearly, it's only the young that keep these stations in business, as anyone with an ounce of maturity or musical taste would wince listening to just a few minutes of the tripe they put out.
