Vershoore sets record straight on budget vote

From today's Dispatch/Argus:

In a letter to the editor, David Nipper, a member of AFSCME Local 2371, accused me of being a liar. Mr. Nipper is confused about the subject of the April 30 meeting he referenced in his letter. The topic for the meeting, set by the AFSCME leadership, was to discuss a two-tiered pension system

He obviously has confused the issue of the "two-tiered" pension system with the state budget discussion on deferred pension fund payments by the State of Illinois. This issue was debated during the legislative session just concluded and resulted in a pension payment deferral by the state government for all employees, including teachers. In order to fund the lean state budget and provide vital services to all citizens, I did vote to defer pension payments. It was the best decision for the 72nd District. However, in no way was the budget vote a vote for a two-tiered pension system.

The complete letter to the editor can be read here.

Seems that Mr. Nipper might need to do a big "never mind", ala Emily Litella

Don't be stupid. Really, don't be stupid.
Stop. Reread your comment. Does it make sense?
Are you making something up out of thin air in order to attack me with it? Reading something into a post that's clearly not there or even implied?
Then don't bother posting. For that matter, if that's the case, don't bother coming back.
